About Planted and Moritz Weiss

Planted is a Swiss FoodTech start-up that specializes in the development and production of plant-based meat. The organization is completely additive-free and focuses on the perfect bite. Founded in 2019 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich, Planted has a clear vision: to bring better proteins to the tables of meat eaters. The company and its products are now represented in seven European countries in the retail and food service sectors and, in addition to its Swiss site, also produces in Memmingen, Germany.

Moritz Weiss is Team Leader Field Management Retail Germany, supports the food retail sector with a ten-strong field sales team and coordinates visits to the major supermarket chains. The field sales force plays a central role for Planted, as the products require explanation and a local presence.

Planted is a Swiss company founded to produce sustainable and healthy plant-based meat - clean, without binders, flavor enhancers and preservatives.

Why automatic route planning?

With the rapid growth in Germany and the increasing market penetration, it quickly became clear that manual route planning based on table functions and simple route planning tools was not enough. "We tried to plan the routes with free tools. But with over 15,000 potential markets in Germany, you quickly reach your limits," recalls Weiss.

A colleague finally brought portatour® into play, as he knew and appreciated it from previous professional experience. "After the first demo, it was already clear to us that portatour® was the tool we needed." After a brief stopover with the integrated planning tool of our CRM system, which turned out to be not powerful enough for the German market, we finally returned to portatour®. Since then, there has been no alternative for Planted.

How did the implementation go?

The return to portatour® was very easy for Weiss and his team. "The implementation was extremely pleasant and smooth. Our requirements were taken seriously and our wishes were discussed at eye level. Only when something was really not technically possible was there a no - and even that was always understandable." When interacting with our CRM system, particular attention was paid to clean data integration. "We already knew which fields we needed. That accelerated the implementation enormously."

What is your experience with the portatour® Salesforce Connector?

"The connector is bulletproof," says Weiss happily. Without in-depth IT know-how, fields from our CRM system can be seamlessly linked to portatour®. Synchronization works reliably in both directions - from visitor appointments to geodata and address changes. "We save a lot of time, especially when onboarding new employees. Excel used to be prone to errors. Today, everything is stable, reliable and efficient.

The user-friendliness of portatour®

The entire team works on the move with portatour®, mainly using iOS devices. The interaction with the Salesforce app runs smoothly. "It's easy to use, the tool is self-explanatory. There are simply no barriers to entry - neither for digital natives nor for experienced colleagues," says Moritz Weiss. After some thought, he can think of just one thing that he would improve: "The design could perhaps be a little more modern. The tool would benefit from a little facelift. But functionally, everything is great and that's what really counts for us."

The tool is extremely user-friendly. Everyone in our team between the ages of 35 and 55 gets on really well.

Great program, use it briefly for Corona-related delivery services in dozens of towns. I was able to do more with the trial version. Too expensive in the short term, probably ok in the long term.
